AI chatbot disclosure snippet (copy + UI component)

Article 50(1) copy plus a small React component that renders the disclosure next to a chat composer. Preview the copy and the component on this page. The download includes a plain-HTML variant and comments on the obviousness exception and accessibility. This is not a finding that your chatbot is in scope.

Educational resource only — not legal advice. scm.cc publishes a readiness report and engineering gap analysis for AI features. It does not give legal advice, represent you before a regulator, or state that a product is ready to ship under any law. This page is educational product guidance, not legal advice. It is not a readiness report, not an engineering gap analysis of your systems, and not a determination that any product meets a legal duty. Confirm current official text before you ship.

When to use this file

You provide an AI system intended to interact directly with natural persons, and the interaction is not obvious in context. Show the disclosure at or before the first interaction, clearly and distinguishably, in an accessible way (Article 50(5)).

On-page preview

## Copy

You are interacting with an AI system. Replies are generated automatically and can be wrong. A human can take over — use Hand off.

## React preview

```tsx
export function AiChatDisclosure() {
  return (
    <p role="note">
      You are interacting with an AI system. Replies are generated
      automatically and can be wrong.
    </p>
  );
}
```

The full download adds an accessible composer wrapper, a plain-HTML variant, and comments on Article 50(1) and 50(5).

Questions teams ask

Can we change the wording?
Yes. The official duty is to inform the person they are interacting with an AI system. Keep that fact, drop the human first name, and localise if the product is localised.
Does this cover Article 50(2) marking?
No. Marking synthetic output is a different duty. Use the labeling snippet for that.
